A look at abortion. . .

Abortion should only be allowed under severe circumstances because there are health issues involved, abortions can fail, there are other options than abortion, and because during an abortion the fetus feels pain and distress.

Did you know during an abortion the abortionist jams scissors into the baby's skull?

There are health issues involved with abortion. Some common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, cramping, bleeding, headache, dizziness, fever or chills, and rarely anemia. Abortions can fail which can cause the child to be born with abnormalities and other congenital problems. Maternal grief and guilt are concerns after a failed abortion. After an abortion, women are more likely to display self-destructive behaviors such as suicide, mutilation, various forms of punishment, drug, alcohol, and tobacco abuse, and eating disorders. After abortions, women may have typical feelings of betrayal, anger, depression, sadness, and breakdown of trust and intimacy in relationships. PID (pelvic inflammatory disease) may form from abortion. The instruments they use to perform the abortion are passed into the womb, carrying the organisms from the cervix into the womb itself. The raw tissue and blood clot left behind after the abortion makes an ideal environment for the organisms to grow and so set up an infection which can then spread into the fallopian tubes thus causing PID. Other problems due to an abortion include the following: subsequent spontaneous miscarriage, subsequent infertility, dyspareunia (painful intercourse), chronic pelvic pain, further episodes of PID. Effects of a subsequent pregnancy after abortion include bleeding in the 1st trimester, premature rupture of membranes, breech or other abnormal position of baby, low birth weight, or premature birth.

There are other options than abortion. Foster care is temporary care of children by substitute parents. Foster care is supervised by government or charitable agencies. It is used to protect children from unhealthy or unsafe home situations or to provide care when natural parents are unavailable. Adoptive care (adoption) is when children become permanent members of a family. It is a procedure by which people legally assume the role of parents for a person who is not their biological child. Adopted children become full members of their adopted family and have the same legal status as biological children. Relatives or stepparents may adopt and is generally easier to arrange than adoptions by people who are not biologically related to the child.

The fetus feels pain and distress from abortion. There are several methods of abortion, but the most common abortion is performed around 8 weeks when the baby is at an early stage of development and is able to suck his/her thumb, turn somersaults, jump, squint to close out light, frown, swallow, and move his/her tongue. The suction aspiration method is performed as follows: general or local anesthesia is given to the mother and her cervix is quickly dilated. A suction curette (hollow tube with a knife-edged tip) is inserted into the womb. This instrument is then connected to a vacuum machine by a transparent tube. The vacuum suction, 29 times more powerful than a household vacuum cleaner, tears the fetus and placenta into small pieces which are sucked through the tube into a bottle and discarded. Another method of abortion that is performed all the way up to 18 weeks is by using a pair of forceps and inserting them into the womb to grasp part of the fetus. The teeth of the forceps twist and tear the bones of the unborn child. This process is repeated until the fetus is totally dismembered and removed. Usually the spine must be snapped and the skull crushed in order to remove them. There is also a poisoning method used up to 16 weeks. A long needle injects a strong sale solution through the mother’s abdomen into the baby’s sac. The baby swallows this fluid and is poisoned by it. It also burns off the outer layer of skin and usually takes the baby over an hour to die from this. Then there is the partial birth abortion which is guided by ultrasound, the abortionist grabs the baby’s legs with forceps, and pulled out into the birth canal. The abortionist delivers the baby’s entire body, except for the head and jams scissors into the baby’s skull. The scissors are then opened to enlarge the skull. The scissors are removed and a suction catheter is inserted. The child’s brains are sucked out, causing the skull to collapse. The dead baby is then removed.

I agree 100% that abortion is murder, life begins at conception!!

I agree abortion is murder! There are many other alternatives besides abortion.

Aside from the process being absolutely grotesque there is this passage in the Declaration of Independance, We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. Notice it says LIFE.

Abortion is not murder. i do agree that abortion should not be the answer most of the time. I believe that abortion is necessary in some situation, few but they are out there.

i feel that abortion is murder. because if a baby is born and the parents kill it it is called murder, but what about the babies aborted left alive to die thru the night why is this not murder?

I think the women should have the right to decide. BUT it should only be an option in severe circumstances. Is it murder? Maybe, but i think it should be left up to the women, spouse and doctor. Would you want someone telling you what medical procedures you are allowed to have?

We live in an age where people want to believe there are no consequences to their actions. Intercouse is meant for procreation, not pleasure, yet people use it for the later far too often.

While some cases for abortion are "necessary", such as medical situations, many are not. But, you can't curb humanity's general stupidity and they'll resort to abortion, legal or not. The problem is too deeprooted... While I agree that abortion is wrong on a personal level, politically, women should have the choice. Legal or not, it will happen anyways.

Of course, the argument covers the pain a fetus suffers through abortion, but you don't touch on the horrors of the fostercare system and the damage it can do to a child. Just the yang to your yin, of course.

If you want to stop abortion, bring back the scarlet letter. That will work, at least until Britney Spears has one and makes it hip - after that, everyone will want one.

I agree that abortion is murder, and I do believe that it should be banned. I can't imagine the feeling to do that to your child, and it is your child no matter how far along you are. (gruesome picture by the way)
